At 12:11 PM, Jennifer scribbled...

Another month has passed. It's so hard to beleive that Bri is now four months old! I swear, I'll blink and she'll be walking around. Right now she's in her playpen making her elephant jingle and is quite impressed. I'm being smothered by a large blue cat...ok, now that I got him to love me, how do I make him stop? :)

So, on to the usual monthly blurb. Bri isn't yet doing some of the stuff I thought she'd be doing by now, such as giggling and rolling over. She still giggles in her sleep, so I can't imagine it being too much longer before she does it for real. As for the rolling, I really thought she'd go front to back, but now when I put her on her tummy, she refuses to even raise her head up. They say that when a baby starts concentrating on something they 'forget' how to do some of the other stuff they used to do. Bri is concentrating on motor control. She's gotten much better at making her hands do what she wants, although she's still pretty spastic.Since she hasn't picked anything up and looked at it, it's hard to tell what movements are purposeful and what are still accidental. Oh, she's also been talking up a storm.

So, what Bri SHOULD be doing by the end of her thrird month:
*Lift head to a 45 degree angle - I'm fairly certain she used to be able to do this and is just curently not interested in doing so.
*Follow an object across her field of vision - she does this much better now. If the toy does something interesting, she'll stare at it, no matter where it goes.

Will PROBABLY be able to do:
*Smile spontaneously - she smiled at Jeeps, so I'm pretty sure that counts, since he didn't smile at her first. :)
The rest of the stuff in this list she can't do. No laughing, or clapping.

May POSSIBLY be able to do:
*Hold head steady when upright - she's mostly steady, just a little jiggling, so I'm not sure if it counts.

May EVEN be able to:
*Bear some weight on legs when upright - I'm not sure if this counts either, she used to be able to this, but now that she's fat, she has some trouble with it.
*Reach for an object - not sure if she does this either, maybe.
*Turn in the direction of a voice - she'll look at me when I'm talking to her, and she smiles at me if she hasn't seen me in a bit.

Her next doc's appointment is the 30th, but I'm sure she'll do something exciting before then.
