Well, time marches on, baby Serena is a whole month old already. Waaah. She still screams like a banshee most of the time, but her quiet awake time is oh so cute. I took her in for pictures on Sunday, they will be in in a few weeks.
Bri is fully day potty trained now, hurrah. She just needs to realize at night that she is allowed to get up and go to the bathroom if she has to.
Like Bri, I'll do little monthly updates on what Serena is supposed to be doing developmentally. They are taken from
What to Expect the First Year by Arlene Eisenburg, Heidi Murkoff and Sandee Hathaway. I will always put down the bare minimum of things, whether she can do them or not but in the 'probably', 'may even' and 'possibly' just the stuff she can do. That's what I did with Bri. The archives got shifted off the site during the move (Sympatico won't host them, POS), and that's probably a good thing since it's totally unfair to compare Bri and Serena with Bri being early and all. I don't think Bri was awake for 90% of her first month. ;)
Serena SHOULD be able to:
*Lift head briefly while on stomach on a flat surface - Serena has some pretty good neck muscles already. She can hold her head up for a little longer than I would have expected her to.
*Focus on a face - yup.
Will PROBABLY be able to:
*Respond to a bell in some way - I don't know about a bell, but she startles (a "response" in the book) to lots of noises.
May POSSIBLY be able to:
*On stomach, lift head 45 degrees - I haven't gotten out the protractor, but I think so.
May EVEN be able to:
*On stomach, lift head 90 degrees - I think so.
*Hold head steady when upright - for short periods of time, yes.
*Bring both hands together - this is iffy, I think she might do this by accident.
The stuff she can't do is mostly social; smiling, vocalizing in non-screamy ways and laughing.
