Serena is a year and a half today! She is one big kid. Some other toddler called her a baby at the Children's Museum the other day, and it was funny because she was bigger than him. She has her 18m appt at the doctor's tomorrow, so we'll find out just how big she is. I suspect big.
She is talking more now, although her favorite words are still shoe, baby, hi and no. Oh, and mine. That's a new one. She has also learned hat, star, apple and boobie (heh), but seems to only say those when prompted. She talks more like a baby than Bri did, Bri pretty much pronounced words properly from the beginning. Serena uses baby approximations, like ba pa for backpack and ap po for apple. Hat is just ha and star is tah. It's cute though. She says Daddy, but all I get is maaaaaaaa! Weasel.
SHOULD be able to:
*use three words - Serena can say about 25, but only uses 5 regularly.
*point to a desired object - oh yes. This is my
favorite stage. The point and "ahh ahh ahh!" stage. Whee.
PROBABLY be able to:
*run - like a weirdo, but she runs.
*use a spoon/fork - yup.
*point to a body part when asked - I haven't asked.
POSSIBLY be able to:
*kick a ball forward - yup.
*follow a two step command w/o gestures - yup. She understands everything you tell her.
She can't do any of the may evens. I haven't seen her point to something in a book and name it yet, and she doesn't use over 50 words.
While I'm here, I can update about Bri too. She still loves school, unless there's something good on TV then she doesn't want to go. Her reading was assessed at somewhere around a grade 1 1/2 level. She has "homework" now - the kids get books in an envelope and have to read them every night. If they read 25 in a month they get a prize. I think Bri's read about 10 already.
Her skating is going well, she's moved back up to the purple penguins and seems to be skating along happily. Her backwards skating is really improving.
